With the New Year coming up, I want to share three of my favorite pieces to make your house feel homey.

This past year, my family moved out of the house that I have lived in my whole life. So, making my new room feel like it was mine and trying to make the house feel like home was really difficult. During this process, I learned how much decorations can make a difference in the way a room makes you feel. First up: Picture Frames

I love some natural wood picture frames, they instantly brighten up a room and make it feel more personal. Place some of your favorite pictures with your favorite people in the frame, or you find some cute prints to place in the frames as well.

Second: Record Player

This is my most favorite item in my room. Not only are they so cute and vintage looking, but they also are so great for making your room feel more like your room. Go to the store or to a thrift shop and pick up some of your favorite artist’s vinyls. Then, whenever you are relaxing in your room, turn it on and it’s bound to bring you some joy.

Finally: Colorful Candles

Lately, I’ve been seeing so many rooms on Pinterest that are just all neutrals and have no fun colors, and I think that can be a big part of why a room doesn’t feel homey. It makes it feel more like a hotel and less like a real person’s room. So, buy a colorful candle that has a great smell, and light it and spend some time in your room to just make it feel more like your space.
